Tortfeasor Definition

The "Legal-Ease" Glossary
Tortfeasor

Someone who commits an act – often unintentionally – that harms another person or causes someone an unfair loss.

You, the small-business owner, could be a tortfeasor if someone, say, files a General Liability lawsuit against your business after they slipped on a wet floor in your shop and broke an arm, and you are found liable for their injury.
