Correction: Clarifying insureon’s Allied Health Coverage

14. January 2013 09:31

In a press release insureon published on January 10, we incorrectly characterized Athletic Trainers as professionals whose work is interchangeable with that of athletic instructors, physical trainers, trainers, and personal trainers. We received an email response from a reader, however, that highlighted our mistake:

“These professions are not interchangeable…. Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers (AT), health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients across age and care continuums. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. ATs work under the direction of physicians, as prescribed by state licensure statutes.”

We would like to apologize for our inadvertent misrepresentation of the Athletic Training profession. While the original article was unintentionally ambiguous about the distinctions among various Allied Health professionals, we want to emphasize that insureon does, in fact, offer business insurance to the following Allied Health professionals:

As always, we welcome and appreciate your feedback! Our goal is to offer you the best insurance and service possible, and we are better able to do that when we hear your thoughts, opinions, and concerns.

Readers who wish to learn more about the Athletic Training professionals can find extensive information on the website of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
